Creative Weekends & Short Breaks

Date posted: 04th April 2017

We are delighted to announce that we have been working with various local suppliers, putting together a series of short breaks for you to experience Cornwall in a new way. From painters to potters, cyclists to walkers we are looking forward to welcoming you to The Land’s End Hotel to enjoy the beauty of the West Cornwall Peninsula.

Beginners Painting Weekend with Glyn Macey

Local artist, Glyn Macey has put together a Beginners Painting Weekend to take place here at The Land’s End Hotel.  Well known for his travel & art projects for charitable organisations including the RNLI & UNICEF, Glyn has recently completed work on his most ambitious artistic venture to date: painting his way around the coast of Arctic Svalbard, documenting the wildlife & climate changes affecting one of the most fragile environments on the planet.  We are thrilled to welcome Glyn to Land’s End & look forward to seeing the masterpieces created by our guests on this wonderful creative break.

Guided Walking Weekend with Paul Simmons of WalkitCornwall

Walkitcornwall’s walking guests are encouraged to discover & understand the unique DNA of each area  they visit through the many layers that make up the history & stories of Cornwall. Penryn based, Paul Simmons has an MA is Cornish Studies, which involves cultural, historic, social, political and economic studies, no one knows the DNA of the Cornish landscape quite like him. Qualified as a Green Guide since 2001 he is presently an ambassador for CoaST (Sustainable Tourism network), for Cornwall 365 & for the World Heritage Network.  We are delighted to welcome Paul to Land’s End this summer for what is sure to be a popular & exciting experience of the Cornish Coastline.

Nordic Walking Weekend with Kelly Bennett from Walk Kernow.

Walk Kernow was set up in 2012 by Kelly Bennett. After experiencing the benefits that Nordic walking gave her she wanted to share her love for the sport & both physical & mental benefits. From then she has had volunteers join her all with a love of Nordic Walking & all of which have completed their Nordic Walking Walk Leader qualifications & first aid courses. If you have a love of the outdoors, want to exercise, want some "me" time want to lose weight, enjoy exercising with others, want to improve your strength, health & well-being or even all the above & more, then Nordic Walking is for you. Kelly frequently visits Land’s End as is looking forward to introducing our guests to Poldark’s Cornwall, an area that is loved by many.

The Cornish Pottery Experience

Located just four miles from Land’s End, Treave Pottery is a traditional working pottery where local potter Tom Young has been based for many years.  He gained an honours degree in Ceramics from Stoke on Trent, where he studied under Derek Emms: who worked in St. Ives with both Bernard and David Leach.  He also trained at Stockholm Art College in Sweden.  We are delighted that Tom is now passing on his knowledge through a series of both half & full day workshops for our guests here at Land's End to enjoy.  This experience can be added on to your existing booking from April - September.

Costal Biking Breaks with Steve Sowerby of Penzance Bike Hire

When we met with Steve it was impossible to not be impressed with his local knowledge & passion for West Cornwall. Based in Penzance, Steve has an understanding of the Cornish Landscape which can only be appreciated by taking one of his wonderful mountain biking tours.  Experience the beauty of Cornwall by visiting the local historical sites of Standing Stones and getting up close to the famous Engine Houses which mark the Cornish coastline.  Steve’s knowledge and passion are expressed wonderfully through this experience and takes you to places which would otherwise remain undiscovered.
